The Celebration of Indian Women: JAIN Felicitates Women Achievers

Jain (Deemed-to-be University) felicitated 31 women achievers from diverse fields – Corporate India, Music, Modeling, Acting, Leadership, Media, National and Public Service as well as Entrepreneurs, in association with GWFM on April 12, 2019. The event was organised to celebrate the success of exceptional women.

The theme of the event was #Balancefor Better, which serves as a continuous call to action to build a gender-balanced world, whether it is in corporate boardrooms, government, academia and media or gender balance of employees.

A panel discussion on the theme “Bringing balance better – from conversation to action” was held in the evening. The panel consisted of members from corporates, striking a balance of men and women. The panelists discussed the changing mindset and how youngsters of today have started accepting the role changes both at home and at workplace; the conscious effort one has to make to accept this change and mindfulness that the change is happening.

Dr. Chenraj Roychand – Founder of the Jain Group of Institutions and President & Chairman of JAIN praised women saying “21 centuries belonged to men, now next 21 are for women”. He narrated the story of a Japanese woman who had saved all her earning and at old age continued to make money, however she retained only what was needed and donated the rest to the society. “Such is the compassion women have towards building the society,” he said.

A total of 31 women were awarded for their contributions in their chosen fields and for being a source of inspiration to a lot of other women. A special mention was for Maj. Swati Basedia, who is serving the army for the last 5 years. While Mr. Partho Ganguly – Founder of GWFM delivered the vote of thanks, Dr.Shiva Kumar – Founder of GWFM saluted all women saying “Yaa devi Sarva Bhutheshu Shakti rupeena samsthitha; namasthasyay namasthasyay namo namah”.
