A robust education system is a pillar of strength for the society. It supports growth and development of a nation and makes very tangible contributions towards the lives of people.
I have always looked at education as a social responsibility on part of everyone involved, the State, the society, the students, the educationists, the parents and even the industry where the graduates eventually head to build their careers. Every stakeholder needs to work in sync to create a strong education system.
The State has to create the right policies and provide the necessary resources to create a strong foundation for education to thrive. In the absence of policies that support the growth and development of educational establishments, it becomes challenging to create strong edifices catering to the research and education needs across various disciplines.
The educationists on the other hand, have to ensure that they capitalize on these policies to build the best educational infrastructure, both in terms of knowledge and facilities. In fact the role of educationists becomes much more crucial because they are the ones who deliver and facilitate education. Apart from the role of imparting knowledge, they are also entrusted with keeping all the stakeholders engaged and informed.
The parents and guardians need to take a proactive role in ensuring that their wards are encouraged to attain knowledge and follow the path towards success and empowerment through education. They should engage with the institutions and provide regular feedbacks and join hands with the educationists in monitoring the progress their wards.
In addition to all these parties, the industry and corporate sector are essential to the equation. Their feedback and active engagement with the academic community ensure that the human resource requirements are met diligently and students gain not just theoretical but hands-on experience as well.
A robust education system is a pillar of strength for the society. It supports growth and development of a nation and makes very tangible contributions towards the lives of people. As the calendar turns and we enter into 2018, let us make this year count by further strengthening our education system.
